Podemos dizer que Viena foi nosso primeiro destino de um vôo “doméstico na União Européia” com atrevimento de levar erva, cuia e bomba. Pensamos, “ah, já que estamos com todo arsenal aqui, vamos levar”. O máximo que poderia acontecer era sermos chamadas no alto-falante, revistarem nossas malas e retirar a erva. Tínhamos tão pouca erva, por não poupar em Barcelona, afinal não planejávamos levá-la além da capital catalã, que se fosse o caso, ela ficaria pra trás mesmo... arriscamos! Detalhe: este vôo tinha um agravante: tínhamos escala com troca de aeronave em Londres! no tão temido Gatwick Airport. Bom, só não lembro o que pensamos para dar de explicação caso algo ocorresse.

We can say that Vienna was our first destination of a “domestic flight in the European Union" with audacity to take mate herb, gourd and pipe. We thought, "oh, since we have the entire arsenal here, let's carry it". The worst that could happen was being called on the tannoy, searched our luggage and remove the mate herb. We had so little mate herb, due not to save it in Barcelona, after all did not plan to take it beyond the Catalan capital, that if were the case, it would be left behind anyway... risked! Details: This flight had an aggravating factor: we scale with aircraft change in London! At the so feared Gatwick Airport. Well, just don’t remember what we thought to give as an explanation if something happen.

Não vimos nossas malas em Gatwick, mas tivemos que tirar sapatos, meias, cinto, casaco e tudo mais para simplesmente trocar de sala de embarque, numa troca de aeronave em um vôo doméstico. O que até indicava uma boa noticia, porque se tivéssemos problemas com as malas, certamente nos chamariam...

We have not seen our luggage at Gatwick, but we had to get of the shoes, socks, belt, jacket and everything else just to change the departure lounge in swapping of aircraft on a domestic flight. What has marked good news, because if we had problems with our luggage, we certainly would be called...

Pousamos em Viena e... lá estavam elas!! De dentro da aeronave conseguimos ver nossas malas (discretas) sendo carregadas pro carrinho! Recebemos nossas malas intactas.

We landed in Vienna and... there they were! From inside the aircraft we could see our luggage (discrete) being loaded in the carrying cart! We got our luggage intact.

Primeiro grande impacto na chegada de Viena é que não tínhamos pensando que as pessoas falam alemão (esse foi nosso primeiro destino com idioma alemão) e muito menos que todos falariam alemão com a gente, até em função da nossa aparência. Tivemos que procurar todo nosso vocabulário de alemão adormecido há mais de 10 anos...

First major impact on arrival in Vienna that was that we did not realize that people speak German (this was our first destination with German language) and much less that everyone would speak in German with us, due to our appearance. We had to find our whole vocabulary of German language dormant for over 10 years...

Direto pro hotel, como sempre estrategicamente escolhido próximo de alguma estação grande de trêm e metrô. Abrimos tudo e... lá estava, nossa erva, cuia e bomba.

Straight to the hotel, as always strategically chosen near some large train and subway station. We unpacked everything and... there it was, our mate herb, gourd and pipe.

Em razão da mudança de planos com relação ao chimarrão, pois inicialmente não iríamos viajar com erva, tínhamos menos de um quilo de erva, uma bomba e a uma cuia gigante, daquelas de plástico que o espaço interno é enorme. Ah, não tínhamos garrafa térmica, mas esse item normalmente pode ser solucionado. Isso mesmo, nosso primeiro passeio por Viena nos levou a uma loja de eletrodomésticos, onde compramos uma chaleira elétrica de viagem. Fomos também a outras lojas de eletrônicos e eletrodomésticos, porque sempre se encontram coisas incríveis e curiosas, mas o que mais chamou atenção nessa situação foi que surpreendentemente o vendedor não pediu para repetirmos, nem mesmo soletrarmos, o nosso sobrenome e nem o nome da rua em que moramos, obviamente ambos de origem alemã.

Due to the change in plans regarding the chimarrão, because initially we would not travel with mate herb, we had less than a pound of herb, a pipe and a giant gourd, the one made of plastic with an enormous internal space. Ah, and we had no thermos, but this item can usually be sorted out. That's right, our first wander around Vienna led us to an appliance store where we bought an electric kettle. We also went to other electronics and appliances stores, because always there are amazing and curious things, but what stood out most in this situation was that surprisingly the seller has not asked to repeat or even to spell, our last name and neither the street name where we live in, obviously both of German origin.

Também em nossa primeira volta por Viena, aliás, na primeira loja que entramos, no centro da cidade e próximo ao hotel, encontramos um GREMISTA!

Also in our first round in Vienna, indeed, the first shop we entered, in the city center and near the hotel, we found a Gremista!

Chaleira elétrica a postos, compramos um litro de água mineral e fizemos o nosso primeiro chimarrão que voou pela Europa. Fomos para o saguão do hotel para tomar e acessar internet. Outra dica, normalmente os hotéis têm disponível wi-fi grátis em alguma área, nem sempre nos quartos, mas dispõe em alguma área pública, em alguns casos até mesmo um ou dois computadores. O legal é que nos saguões com wi-fi sempre têm sofás, várias tomadas pra conectar os carregadores e sempre têm gente pra conhecer e, é claro, você sempre vai achar algum brasileiro. Bom aproveitar pra conversar com outros viajantes pra trocar idéias do que pode ser interessante fazer, onde comer ou como chegar a algum lugar.

Electric kettle ready, bought some mineral water and made our first chimarrão that flew through Europe. We went to the lobby to drink it and to access internet. Another tip, usually the hotels have free Wi-Fi available in some area, not always in the rooms, but in some public area, sometimes even one or two computers. The cool thing is that in the halls with Wi-Fi always have sofas, various outlets to connect the chargers and we always have people to meet and, of course, you can always find some Brazilian. Good chance to talk to other travelers to exchange ideas of what might be interesting to do, where to eat or how to get somewhere.

Outra situação que começou a tornar ainda mais interessante tomar chimarrão em áreas públicas, foi ver as pessoas nos observando tomar aquela coisa esquisita. Em Viena não teve nenhum corajoso para perguntar, mas sabíamos que a partir daquele momento levaríamos o chimarrão ao palco, para observar as reações da platéia!

Another situation that began to become even more interesting to drink chimarrão in public areas was to see people watching us drinking that weird stuff. In Vienna no one had courage to ask, but we knew that from that moment the chimarrão would take on the stage to observe the reactions of the audience!

Dentre as muitas ruas e avenidas interessantes de Viena, destacamos a Mariahilfer Strasse, uma avenida que passa pela Westbahnhof e vai até os museus – Museum Strasse e Museum Platz. Andar o trecho da estação até os museus é muito interessante, pois tem tantas lojas, shoppings, sorveterias, cafeterias, pessoas, que você vai se distraindo e anda, andaaaa... E vale a pena!

Among the many interesting avenues and streets of Vienna, highlight the Mariahilfer Strasse, a street that passes through the Westbahnhof and goes to the museums - Museum Strasse and Museum Platz. Walk from the station to the museums is very interesting because it has so many shops, malls, ice cream parlors, coffee shops, people, that you will get distracted and walk waaaaalk... And it's worth!

Nós conhecemos muitos lugares em Viena, mas nosso tempo era curto e não conseguimos conhecer muitos dos imensos prédios e museus da cidade. Mas também conhecemos lugares lindos e interessantíssimos, muitas obras de artes magníficas e tudo valeu a pena!

We met many places in Vienna, but our time was short and fail to meet many of the huge buildings and museums of the city. But we also met some beautiful and interesting places, many magnificent works of art and all worth it!

Temos que destacar alguns pontos imperdíveis, dentre o que conhecemos:

Secession: que fica na Friedrichstrasse. É um prédio onde pode se dizer que é a sede da União dos Artistas Austriacos. O próprio prédio é utilizado para as mais diversas manifestações. Lá é possível ver a maior obra de Gustav Klimt, o primeiro presidente de tal União, a Beethoven Frieze, que foi pintada diretamente nas paredes do andar mais baixo da casa, a obra inteira ocupa três paredes.

Secession: located at the Friedrichstrasse. It is a building where we can say is the headquarters of the Union of Austrian artists. The building itself is used for many different manifestations. There is possible to see the biggest work of Gustav Klimt, the first president of that Union, the Beethoven Frieze, which was painted directly on the walls of the lower floor of the house, the whole work occupies three walls.

Albertina: Albertinaplatz 1. É um palácio onde se encontram muitas obras de artes interessantes de pintores mundialmente famosos, assim como locais, situado no complexo de Hofburg. Nesse local era o Hofbauamt de um dos Fortes de Viena, o Escritório de Construção da Corte e depois palácio residencial do Duque Albert da Saxen-Teschen, que foi quem trouxe muitas obras de sua coleção criada em Bruxelas, onde havia sido governador. Foi necessária a ampliação do espaço para abrigar as obras e com a sua expansão acabou por integrar o complexo do Hofburg.

Albertina: Albertinaplatz 1. It is a palace where many interesting works of art from world-famous painters as well as locals located in the Hofburg complex. In this place was the Hofbauamt of one of the Forts of Vienna, the Court Construction Office and then residential palace of the Duke Albert of Saxen-Teschen, who was the one who brought many works from his collection created in Brussels, where he was governor. It required the expansion of space to house the works and with its expansion eventually integrate the Hofburg complex.

Memorial Mozart: saindo da Albertina e cruzando pelo Burggarten, ainda dentro do Hofburg, está o Memorial Mozart, que é uma estátua de Mozart feita por Viktor Tilgner.

Mozart Memorial: from the Albertina and crossing the Burggarten still inside the Hofburg is the Mozart Memorial, which is a statue of Mozart made by Viktor Tilgner.

Belvedere: fica na Prinz-Eugen-Strasse 27. É um lugar lindo, uma paisagem e tanto! A visita no palácio é interessante e o seu diferencial é que lá está a obra “Der Kuss” (O Beijo) de Gustav Klimt, que é inexplicável ao vivo, não havendo reprodução, foto e nem palavras que consigam transmitir o que essa obra é de verdade.

Belvedere: located at Prinz-Eugen-Strasse 27. It's a beautiful place and such a landscape! The visit at the palace is interesting and its differential is that there is work "Der Kuss" (The Kiss) by Gustav Klimt, which is inexplicable to see live, there is no reproduction, photo neither words that can express what this work truly is.

Schloss Schönbrunn: Schönbrunner Schloss Strasse 147, Schönbrunn. É um palácio que servia como residência de verão da família imperial e conta com 1440 aposentos, jardins imensos, estando entre os maiores, mais belos e mais importantes do mundo. É sempre associado ao nome dos Habsburg, dinastia que dominou grande parte da Europa durante vários séculos. Nesse castelo se encontram tesouros e preciosidades únicas, salões lindos, assim como é relacionado com Sissi, Imperatriz da Áustria e Rainha da Hungria.

Schloss Schönbrunn: Schloss Schönbrunner Strasse 147, Schönbrunn. It is a palace that used to be a summer residence of the imperial family and has 1440 rooms, huge gardens and is among the largest, most beautiful and most important in the world. It is always associated with the name of the Habsburg dynasty that dominated much of Europe for several centuries. In this castle are precious and unique treasures, beautiful lounges, as it is related to Sissi, Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary.

Fugindo um pouco dos museus, há ainda em Viena o Prater, que é um parque de diversões, às margens do Rio Danúbio, com muitas atrações, sendo a mais famosa delas a Riesenrad, a antiga roda-gigante formada por vagões vermelhos, construída em 1897.

Running away from the museums, there is the Prater in Vienna, which is an amusement park on the banks of the Danube River, with many attractions, the most famous of the Riesenrad, the old Ferris wheel composed of red wagons, built in 1897.

Entre outras coisas, ficamos surpresas como nosso alemão aprendido no primeiro grau ainda estava nas nossas cabeças e a cada momento resgatamos mais palavras e expressões. Em Viena é falado um alemão super claro e as pessoas são super amigáveis, são muito de boa. Realmente nos sentimos em casa lá.

Among other things, we were surprised as our German learned in the elementary school was still in our heads and every time we rescued more words and expressions. In Vienna is spoken a pretty clear German and the people are really friendly, they are cool. We really felt at home there.

As pessoas são educadas e corretas. O comportamento dos pedestres nas sinaleiras nos deixou admiradas, pois todos sempre respeitam os sinais: se esta vermelho para pedestres, mesmo que não venha carros, eles não atravessam as ruas, nem mesmo as que precisam de três ou quatro passos para estar do outro lado. É impressionante, tivemos até que filmar isso, hehehe!

People are polite and correct. The behavior of pedestrians at traffic lights admired us, because everyone always respect the signs: if it is red for pedestrians, though with no cars, they do not cross the streets, even those that require three or four steps to be crossed. It's amazing we had to shoot it up that, hehehe!

Viena nos surpreendeu! Adoramos a capital da Áustria e infelizmente nossa estada por lá não foi longa, mas deixou vontade de retornar!

Vienna surprised us! We loved the capital of Austria and unfortunately our stay there was not long, but longer enough to wish to return!
